Cover Letter for Ms. DeLuca's 4/5 Combo & Mrs. Heinrich's 5th Grade Distance Learning Packets:
Ms. Koser's Fifth Graders:
I have tried to make the learning packet similar to our normal routine. Students should complete the reading task prior to writing task. During reading time, students can read to a parent, a pet, a sibling, or by themselves. The choice is up to them. If your child cannot find a book, there are stories available on Newsela. Students can access this website through their Clever login. The login usernames and passwords, as well as directions to access Clever were provided in the learning packet. I have also made Clever.com apps available for students to continue to practice reading and math skills. It is highly recommended that you and your child discuss the reading text. Your child will benefit from this.
The math tasks serve as a review to previously learned skills. I have also included “Fun March” tasks for students to work on. If your child has a preference to complete reading or math first, let them decide.
It is important that your child find a quiet place to work so that their learning can prosper. I will be communicating with students via Google Classroom for daily check-ins. I understand that there may be multiple people in the home who need access to the computer, therefore a student may complete the check-in at any time during the course of the day. For parent communication, I will be communicating through email and google hangout (video conferencing).
